Latang Trek. 3rd day Kutumsang-Thadepati

3rd day Kutumsang-Thadepati
12 km- 1.200 mtr climbing. Around 6 hours.

I just remember going up up up..and fog, fog all over, we hardly could see anything. Well we passed through at least four waterfalls, all covered with fog..

We arrive however, at 2 and were the first of the groups (Belgiums and couple of German and Spanish), in general we were the fastest, mainly for Johan not for me, who basically followed him as fast as I could. This would be our main point of discussion however. Other days, if we arrived later than others, was mainly for our long breaks for lunch (again thanks to me:)

We first thought of going to Gopte and do some more way today but finally, after seeing all the elevation of the day, 1.200 mts, we thought it will not be very wise to climb more and be exposed to the AMS or mountain sickness. Especially because the next day, if we did that, we also had a heavy climbing passing through one of the highest points of our trek (Laurebina pass) so we decided to stick to our plan and stay there to accommodate to highness adequately.

There were three lodges in this village (Thadepathi) one up, one in the middle down and another in another small mountain up. First we took the one up but there were two Russian women already there
Then after the a while the troupe of Belgiums also arrived in the same lodge.

Before I was checking on the one down of the three, right in the middle, and while leaving a very cute girl came out saying “why you are not staying”?? “ accommodation free, accommodation free”! I told that to Johan because in the place up they were charging us some price for accommodation and quality was the same, and mainly because I was moved by the insistence of the girl. Finally we got accommodation free in the one up too but when the Belgiums arrived with all their troup we thought, why not? too many people..And move down. I hope they did not take it bad. In general and after talking to them we all thought it was good for the “village” if we somehow the crowd would spread on the different local houses.

The couple (German+Spanish) where in the first one so we were really spread on the three.

We could choose our own house but I do not think the Belgiums could. They were going whenever their guide told them to go and did not question, I guess it was all agreed before and I am convinced the guides allocated their hostess according to a benefit policy..I mean, whenever they get more money or privileges (like staying for free, or free food, etc)

So we moved downs, and the little girl was really happy to see us coming. Only her and her brother were there and were the ones who prepared dinner for us very efficiently.

After dinner we played a chess game which would last looong until Johan finally beated me. The kids were looking at us amazing on how that board with little figures would keep us quite and thoughtful.

Accommodation in this village started to become quite basic and we follow like that in the next villages. Rooms were only wooden cabins with beds. Showers were not really shower only again, small wooden cabins where we could get a bucket full of hot water and clean ourselves..well not bad as long as we could get hot water.

That night I started sleeping with all the clothes I had on. And if possible and the lodge would give me, two blankets as well.

Next morning there, once the fog moved away, we could enjoy a real beautiful view from that place, with mountains and clouds at the bottom of them
